I’ve had the opportunity through the years to work with some outstanding photographers. From early on in my career as a creative director I was responsible for many photo shoots. Through the years I worked with the likes of New England photographers: Bela Kalman, Conrad Lowman and Al Riccio as well as one of finest floral photographers ever, Tony Stone (London). There were many others, and it was through these talented people I learned the fine art of photography. To watch their specific techniques of lighting, set-ups and posturing was beyond what I might have learned as a student of a photography institution.

There came a point when I took camera in hand and did my own photo shoots, rather than direct the shooting, and developed my personal style and techniques. With photography, as is my practice with paint brush and canvas, I do not want to simply replicate what is in front of me, but rather create unique and artistic images. Before photoshop I was utilizing all the tricks and gimmicks of lens and lighting. When the magic of photoshop came into play the creative potential of the photographed image realized no boundaries. The subjects, whether floral or scenic, models or machines, were opened to a plethora of artistic possibilities. I feel fortunate to have worked my way through the earlier cycles of photography to the wondrous capabilities of today’s sophisticated high tech equipment.

I also had the good fortune to work with some exceptional models - young ladies who worked so hard and diligently at a most difficult profession. Working with an excellent model is paramount to a good photo session. The really good ones bring their own creativity into play and are instrumental in bringing the efforts of the photographer to a higher level. One such model was Jessica Sanasarian who has successfully worked the Boston - New York circuit as an accomplished model with an outstanding portfolio. “Lady in Lace” is but one of the many wonderfully artistic images of Jessica.
